What I Learned in My First Year of Being An Entrepreneur
Who you surround yourself with matters.
Like any marriage, who you choose to partner with might be the biggest decision that you make. In April of this year, Kevin joined Maverix, giving me the partner I needed to grow — and providing the company with someone with high-level brokerage experience.
Kevin hit the ground running by building out internal operations and spearheading the Maverix brokerage product with Christie’s International Real Estate. I knew Kevin would be a valuable addition, but I had no idea just how much he would add to the Maverix brand.
You may not be looking for a partner, but think of it this way: Any newcomers to your business, from the agents you recruit, to the executives you hire to lead your teams, will play a pivotal role in your growth and culture. Remember the saying, “Measure twice, cut once?” It applies beyond carpentry.
Make sure that in your haste to grow or fill a role, you don’t move too quickly. An honest miscalculation is often expensive and time-consuming to fix.
Maverix isn’t always the right fit… and that’s ok.
There are a lot of advisors in our industry, some great and some, well… less than great. We understand that Maverix isn’t always the right solution for everyone.
As a matter of fact, we have referred quite a bit of business to advisors that offer services that aren’t in our sweet spot. Services like fractional CFO, brokerage M&A, and retained talent searches are a few examples. If you need something that is outside of our expertise, bring it to us and we’ll get you connected with the right people!
While everyone is spending their time panicking about mergers, acquisitions, and AI…
I’m not sure that enough people are focused on increasing their revenue from Core Services. I can almost promise you that you’re not providing your clients with access to some really great products AND you’re likely leaving money on the table.
We can fix that. Message me so Maverix can take a peek under the hood of your offerings, then recommend the tuneup you need to go turbo speed in 2026.
The sky isn’t falling, but it can feel like it is.
If you find yourself jumping every time a new lawsuit hits the headlines, or up at 3am worrying about how Compass/Anywhere is going to impact your business, it’s okay to log off for a day or two. Actually, it might be the healthiest thing you can do. We often spend our time on social media that can feel like an echo chamber… that grows louder by the minute.
The holidays are a few weeks away and the market will slow down… it always does. But the news cycle might not. I am going to turn off my push alerts, go to the beach and touch sand and the ocean. All of the industry issues will still be there in January.
